POSITION SUMMARY: Cleans all areas of the facility by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this position. The position may require other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

  • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Housekeeping Department. 
  • Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, patient care units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
  • Washes windows, walls, floors, beds, and furniture upon patient discharge. Applies clean linen on the disinfected patient bed. 
  • Reports any furniture, fixtures, building, or equipment repairs required to the Housekeeping Supervisor. 
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner. 
  • Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to the procedure. 
  • Uses and maintains equipment properly. 
  • Maintains patient confidentiality. 
  • Assists visitors with directions whenever requested. 
  • Always introduces self to patients, families, and visitors. 
  • Reports safety hazards as appropriate. 
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal areas. 
  • Replenishes supplies. 
  • Follows all infection prevention and control practices, including handwashing techniques, standard precautions, and isolation precautions. 
  • Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties. 
  • Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision. 
  • Observe safety and security precautions at all times. 
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School graduate or equivalent.  
  • Or one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Practical knowledge of computers and applicable software.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle stressful situations in a calm and supportive manner
  • Ability to exhibit professional and courteous behavior, consistent with the ARC mission statement, when interacting with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels to create a safe and healthy relationship with clients served
