We are hiring a Farm Technician for our growing team!  A Farm Technician aids in raising and feeding livestock and growing crops at a farm. On a typical workday, you will be required to perform many physically challenging activities such as cultivating the soil, sowing crops, and ensuring that weeds do not take over the crop patch. You will also be looking after the needs of livestock and other farm animals by feeding them, cleaning their pens, and ensuring their overall well-being

 

Key Responsibilities:

● Tend to farm animals and livestock in a bid to keep them fed and healthy.

● Cultivate soil and sow crops on a designated piece of land. 

● Perform slashing and chemical spraying activities to ensure weed control.    

● Perform harvesting activities by using equipment such as harvesters and tractors.

● Observe cattle for signs of illnesses and report any observations immediately. 

● Ensure that operational areas are clean and maintained. 

● Clear away animal waste and clean and sterilize farm equipment. 

● Assist in farm animal breeding and raising procedures such as shearing, crutching, branding, and dipping. 

● Herd sheep and cattle on foot or motorbikes or horses. 

● Repair farm buildings, fences, and windmills and ensure constant maintenance measures are taken. 

● Adjust and repair farm machinery and notify farmers in the event of a malfunction.

● Weedeating fence lines 

 

Key Experience and Education Needed:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Self-motivated
  • Availability to work some evening, overnight, and/or weekend shifts
  • Ability to meet deadlines and stay on schedule
