We are hiring a Medical Records Clerk for our growing team!  The Medical Records Clerk will distribute records request in a timely manner while following rules and regulations set by HIPAA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all client records are kept confidential according to HIPAA laws and regulations.
  • Scanning documentation/records into appropriate sections/tabs of client charts.
  • Sort and distribute daily mail.
  • Send records to MCO’s upon request.
  • Complete MCO Chart Audits in a timely manner.
  • Under the direction of your supervisor, fax/mail medical records to requesting persons and agencies according to HIPAA laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records by following ARC’s policies and procedures.
  • Prioritize workload to meet daily production schedule.
  • Serves as a backup for Billing Specialists.
  • Complete clerical duties as assigned.
  • Communicate with ARC facilities and other departments to assist with answering questions when needed. 
  • Interacts with providers and peers face-to-face, by telephone, and in writing in a professional and productive manner. 
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations. 
  • Protect the privacy of all persons served/client information in accordance with Addiction Recovery Care Center’s privacy policies, procedures and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider.

Key Experience and Education Needed:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Administrative experience preferred

Other Qualifications to be Considered:

  • Extensive knowledge of medical computer software. 
  • Attention to detail and organization. 
  • Computer literate with experience in a Windows environment. 
  • Ability to prioritize work- and work-related responsibilities. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle crisis situations in a calm and supportive manner 
  • Ability to exhibit professional and courteous behavior, consistent with the ARC mission statement, when interacting with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels to create a safe and healthy relationship with clients served 
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to read detailed health records 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move around the office and the community
