We are hiring an Occupational Therapist for our growing team within our Pioneer Health Group!  The Occupational Therapist will manage a comprehensive evaluation of clients, development of rehabilitation plans, and implementation of strategies to facilitate independence in vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills. These services are rendered within the facilities of The Millard School (K-12), ARC, and potential outpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates development and rehabilitation of clients with mental, emotional, and physical disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed occupational therapy.
  • Meets the client’s goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results and determining occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
  • Helps clients develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities.
  • Implements programs involving manual arts and crafts, practice in functional, pre-vocational, vocational and homemaking skills and fosters activities of daily living.
  • Promotes maximum independence by selecting and constructing therapies according to the individual's physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest.
  • Prepares clients for return to employment by consulting with employers; determining potential employee difficulties; retraining employees; and helping employers understand necessary physical and job accommodations.
  • Evaluates results of occupational therapy by observing, noting, evaluating clients progress, and recommending / implementing adjustments and modifications.
  • Completes discharge planning by consulting with Physicians, Nurses, Peer Support Specialist, Directors, Clinicians  and other appropriate staff.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing clients, families, and/or caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment and recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Documents client care services by charting in clients and department records.
  • Maintains client confidence and protects ARC’s operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects clients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Develops occupational therapy staff by providing information and developing and conducting in-service training programs.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Key Experience and Education Needed:

  • Current Ky Occupational Therapist License
  • Minimum of one year of recent work experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Graduation from an Occupational Therapy program accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the AMA and the AOTA
  • Certified Occupational Therapist (OT) by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) or Certified Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) by the National Board in Certified Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire

  • Adhere to Confidentiality requirements as outlined in 42 CFR, Part 2.
  • Computer literate with experience in a Windows environment or Chrome. 
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle crisis situations in a calm and supportive manner
  • Ability to exhibit professional and courteous behavior, consistent with the ARC mission statement, when interacting with persons of varying backgrounds and education levels to create a safe and healthy relationship with clients served 
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to read detailed health records 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to operate computer and other equipment in the office
  • Must have sufficient mobility to move around the office and the community
