We are hiring a Intake Assessment Nurse for our growing team! The Intake Assessment Nurse is a vital member of the Intake Team.  The Intake Assessment Nurse is responsible for assessing all referrals with potential problematic medical concerns prior to that client being scheduled for admission.

SHIFT SCHEDULE: 3pm-11pm

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Nursing Degree (prefer Registered Nurse but will consider an LPN with applicable experience)
  • Active Nursing License in the state of KY which is in good standing.
  • Mental health or substance abuse treatment experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of addictions and mental health complications.
  • Knowledge of the 12-Step Recovery Program.
  • Knowledge and competency in problem-solving, stress management, ethics, and team building.
  • Knowledge of alcohol and other drugs that includes:
    • Alcohol and addictive drugs and their physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual impact on the individual.
    • Alcohol and addictive drugs and their impact on the family.
    • Ability to determine if a medical emergency exists and to take appropriate action, when necessary.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures used in case of alcohol and/or drug overdose.
  • Knowledge of the stages of alcohol and other drug withdrawals and ability to
  • take appropriate action at each stage.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Municipal laws and/or regulations that regulate the treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction, including:
    • Confidentiality
    • Persons Served/Client Rights
    • Professional Code of Ethics
    • Discrimination

Key Experience and Education Needed:

  • Conducts telehealth nursing assessments on all referrals that present with illnesses, physical limitations, or other potential medical concerns that could present challenges to the referral becoming an admission. If telehealth is not an option a phone screen will be performed in lieu of the video assessment.
  • Member of the Client Access Team.
  • Communicates with Medical to be fully informed of the capabilities of the facilities as well as to keep them informed of any potential client needs prior to the client coming to treatment. 
  • Observe and assess clients for clinical signs and symptoms and follow prescribed course of treatment. 
  • Maintain company and house rules at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA laws.
  • The Registered Nurse is expected to protect the privacy of all persons served/client information in accordance with Addiction Recovery Care, LLC/ Odyssey, Inc.’s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with the general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider. 
  • The Registered Nurse may access protected health information (PHI) and other persons served/client information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties.  The incumbent may only share such information with those who have a need to know specific persons served/client information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment, or other operations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and assumption of responsibilities not delineated in the job description which are related to work as a member of an addiction treatment team.  
  • Bring policy/personnel issues to supervision as they arise.
  • The nurse is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding policies and procedures on client privacy and any observed practices in violation of the policy to their supervisor.
  • Must have the ability to interact with staff and persons served/clients in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Adhere to Confidentiality requirements as outlined in 42 CFR, Part 2.
  • Computer literate with experience in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail and organization are a must.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work-related responsibilities.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
